Kings1 2:5 "Moreover, you also know what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, how he dealt with the two commanders of the armies of Israel, Abner the son of Ner, and Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, avenging in time of peace for blood that had been shed in war, and putting the blood of war on the belt around his waist and on the sandals on his feet.

Last night, before sleeping, I was thinking of David, how he later in his life, i thought, he reduced killing people. But I was wrong.
This morning when I read this verse, I was shocked. He was a killer and even at his death bed talking (advicing) about killing people to his son (would be king of Israel).
If it were war, that's a different story. No wonder, the Lord would not allow him to build the temple, because his hands were bloody!
One thing, is sure, most (not all) his killings were in war or war related. Yet a significant amout of his killings are not war related.
I was glad he did not kill the man who cursed him when he was running from Absolom, but towards the end of his life, in this chapter, he tells his son to do the killing for him.
I wonder, was that his last wish, apart from advicing (first part hos his advice) his son to follow in the footsteps of the Lord and please him.
Okay, in conclusion, David was a very bloody man. Thank God, Solomon did not follow in this step(so much) but followed other footsteps (many concubines) of his daddy. Oh, did he beat his daddy in this (smile).
